Baseball Recap: Earlville Comes Up Short

Earlville extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-12 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Plano Reapers. The Red Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Reapers from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

As for Plano, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-18. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

For Plano's part, Quentin Santoria was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Santoria is becoming a predictor of the Reapers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-18 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jason Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Earlville will square off against Stark County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Plano, they will challenge Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
