Boyd County posted their closest victory since December 12, 2025 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Russell Red Devils, sneaking past 76-73. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won six in a row.

Russell's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Burgess, who posted 18 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyler Cordial, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards.

Boyd County's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Russell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-5.
