Basketball Recap: French Settlement Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for French Settlement, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 46-42 victory over the Amite Warriors on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2014.

Despite the loss, Amite still got an impressive performance from Curtissiyah Jenkins, who went 12 of 20 en route to 25 points and six rebounds. That was a full 59.5% of Amite's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alexcia Moore, who had nine points.

French Settlement is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points over those games. As for Amite, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-15.

Looking ahead, French Settlement won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northlake Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Amite, they will face off against Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
