Volleyball Recap: Grayslake North Comes Up Short

Grayslake North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vernon Hills Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Grayslake North was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-11.

Logan Smith paced Grayslake North's offense, picking up eight kills. Smith got some help from Rees Obaid and his seven assists. Alex Christoffel controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Grayslake North's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Vernon Hills, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Grayslake North has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Round Lake on the 10th. As for Vernon Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against York on the 11th.
