Basketball Recap: Catawba Ridge Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rock Hill

Catawba Ridge fought the good fight in their overtime game against Rock Hill on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 72-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rock Hill Bearcats. One positive for the Copperheads, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Catawba Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Mark Caslaru and Isaiah Thomas. Caslaru dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Thomas went 7 of 11 to rack up 20 points and five boards. Caslaru has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Kevin Butler was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Catawba Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Rock Hill found their leader in sophomore Anderson Tucker, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Tucker. The team also got some help courtesy of Deionne Robertson, who posted 12 points.

Catawba Ridge's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Rock Hill, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-16.

Coming up, Catawba Ridge will head out to take on Clover at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Rock Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
