With a playoff win on the line, Mt. Vernon rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with a 64-54 win over the Carbondale Terriers. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.

Mt. Vernon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melaina Zedalis, who on her way to 19 points along with seven boards and four steals. Zedalis' big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Kamaree Pollard was another key player, to rack up 22 points and five rebounds.

Mt. Vernon pushed their record up to 27-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Carbondale, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-14.

Looking ahead, Mt. Vernon will challenge Effingham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mt. Vernon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matches. Carbondale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
