Baseball Recap: Wheaton Academy Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Wheaton Academy came tearing into Saturday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Sycamore Spartans by a score of 7-3. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 4-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Nathanael Switzer looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dom Murrell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Christensen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Wheaton Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive games.

Wheaton Academy's record now sits at 29-8. As for Sycamore, their loss dropped their record down to 16-16.

Looking ahead, Wheaton Academy will face off against Boylan Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sycamore does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
