Basketball Game Preview: Cumby Trojans vs. Boles Hornets

Cumby hasn't had much luck against Boles recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cumby Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Boles Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Cumby is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.

Cumby will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Como-Pickton, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Cumby took down Como-Pickton 68-49 on Friday.

Cumby relied on the efforts of Chett Vaughan, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 32 points, and Chayton Vaughan, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Chett's evening made it 23 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of MontgoMery BENTON, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Boles played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Cooper, falling 88-48. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cumby's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 12-11. As for Boles, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-10.

Cumby came up short against Boles in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 94-83. Can Cumby avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
