Softball Recap: Glendale Prep Academy Drops Season-High Score on Tempe Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glendale Prep Academy). Everything went their way against the Tempe Prep Knights on Saturday as they made off with a 23-0 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Raegan Rockey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ally Moore was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Natalie Whipple was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Glendale Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Glendale Prep Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record. As for Tempe Prep, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Glendale Prep Academy will square off against Highland Prep West at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Considering the Griffins have lost three straight at home and the HORNETS four straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. As for Tempe Prep, they will challenge Madison Highland Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
