Basketball Recap: Westville Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Gwen Bennett and Lani Gondzur

Westville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 52-37 to the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 50-39 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Westville's loss came despite strong showings from Lani Gondzur and Gwen Bennett. Gondzur went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points and three steals, while Bennett dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Gondzur has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison Duke, who posted three points and five assists.

Westville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Westville will be taking part in a tournament against Armstrong at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, they will square off against Hoopeston at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th.
