John Whelan put up the most strikeouts he's had since back in March on Sunday. He struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of New Hope-Solebury's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 2-10 when he doesn't).

Looking ahead, Whelan and New Hope-Solebury will square off against Solebury at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are a perfect 3-0 against the Spartans going back to May of 2016, a lead they'll look to extend.
