Baseball Game Preview: Belen Jesuit Wolverines vs. Sunset Knights

The Belen Jesuit Wolverines will face off against the Sunset Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Belen Jesuit is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Belen Jesuit barely beat Archbishop Carroll the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 win on Tuesday. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Belen Jesuit got a great performance from Victor Escobar as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Escobar has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Belen Jesuit let Peter Lopez and Alejandro Cordero run wild. Lopez went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Cordero went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those three hits gave Cordero a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Cueto, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Belen Jesuit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Sunset earned a 7-2 win over Coral Gables on Tuesday.

Sunset's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Belen Jesuit, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

Belen Jesuit suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Sunset in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
