Basketball Recap: Providence Comes Up Short

If Providence was feeling good fresh off their 72-46 takedown of Garinger last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Providence Panthers fell to the East Mecklenburg Eagles 56-52. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

East Mecklenburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ahmari Hicks led the charge by going 7 for 14 en route to 22 points. Hicks' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jordan Buzzard was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for East Mecklenburg, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Providence has already played their next game (against Westover), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. East Mecklenburg has already played their next contest, a 53-49 win against Cox Mill on the 18th.
