Basketball Game Preview: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. Beardstown Tigers

Astoria/VIT hasn't had much luck against Beardstown recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Astoria/VIT Rebels will take on the Beardstown Tigers at 1:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Astoria/VIT is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 76-32 loss at the hands of Griggsville-Perry.

Meanwhile, Beardstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by South County and fell 64-35. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while the Vipers are ranked 265th).

Astoria/VIT's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Beardstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.

Astoria/VIT was taken down by Beardstown 62-35 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Astoria/VIT avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
