Softball Game Preview: Hancock Eagles vs. Lindblom Eagles

Hancock will face off against Lindblom at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

If Hancock beats Lindblom with 21 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Eagles didn't even let Back of the Yards College Prep on the board on Monday, marking the Eagles' second-straight 21-0 shutout. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Alyssa Diaz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Diaz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

In other batting news, Chloe Dougherty was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Pinal, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

Hancock hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lindblom). Everything went their way against Phillips on Monday as they made off with a 15-7 win.

Lindblom's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Hancock, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Hancock got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2018 against Lindblom by a conclusive 13-3 score. Does Hancock have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lindblom turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
