Baseball Recap: New Prairie Takes a Loss

New Prairie blew Boone Grove out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Boone Grove got their revenge. The Cougars fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 7-5. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolves since on Monday.

Reed Robinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of New Prairie's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-2 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Davis, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for New Prairie and nudges their season record down to 12-7. As for Boone Grove, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Prairie will head out to challenge Penn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Kingsmen will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Boone Grove, they will take on Wheeler at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.9 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
