Recap: Edgewater Eagles vs. Olympia Titans
On Friday, the Edgewater Eagles faced the Olympia Titans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Edgewater took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Olympia. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Edgewater in their matchups with Olympia: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Edgewater still got an impressive performance from Zion Mitchell, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Donovan Williams Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Kameren Wright was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks for Olympia. Wright continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Owens, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Edgewater's loss dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Olympia, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgewater will take on Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Olympia, Olympia and Apopka will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Apopka is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
