Football Game Preview: Ware County Gators vs. New Hampstead Phoenix

The Ware County Gators will head out to face off against the New Hampstead Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ware County blew Benedictine out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Benedictine got their revenge. The Gators fell just short of the Cadets by a score of 30-27. While the Gators didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cadets 7-3 in the first quarter.

Ware County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jamario Rice, who picked up 82 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Isaiah White, who threw for 138 yards and three TDs.

Meanwhile, New Hampstead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 38-24 to Perry. On the bright side, the 24- point performance marked the Phoenix's highest-scoring game to date.

New Hampstead's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Ware County, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Ware County couldn't quite get it done against New Hampstead in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 48-41. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
