Baseball Recap: Jersey Village Comes Up Short

Jersey Village extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-17 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cypress Creek Cougars. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Nathan Ultis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Roy King made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Nicolas Gomez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Cypress Creek, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-20-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Cypress Creek's side, their win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Nichols, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Nichols a new career-high.

While Jersey Village had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
