Recap: Sterling Jets vs. Meridian Mustangs

This season hasn't been kind to the Sterling Jets, who are still winless after their fifth game. They took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meridian on Tuesday. Sterling lost against Meridian in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-35 score last time.

Despite the loss, Sterling saw an underclassman step up: Brody Horstman scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for Horstman. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Wambold, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Sterling's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.6 points per game. As for Meridian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sterling is on the road again on Saturday and play against East Butler. As for Meridian, they will face off against Superior on Friday. Superior comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
