Softball Recap: Pelham Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Pelham dropped their record down to 11-15 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They fell 9-4 to the West Blocton Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in March.

Jordan Young was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Taylor Howard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for West Blocton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 24-10. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.2 runs.

On West Blocton's side, Crimson Calhoun was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave Calhoun a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacey Register, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pelham will take on Prattville Christian Academy in a tournament on Saturday. Pelham's pitchers better be ready for this one: Prattville Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for West Blocton, they will square off against Demopolis at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Demopolis has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.17 runs per game on average), something West Blocton will no doubt try to take advantage of.
