Basketball Recap: Bluejacket Gets the Win

Bluejacket hadn't done well against Welch recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Bluejacket Chieftains escaped with a win against the Welch Wildcats by the margin of a single free throw, 31-30. This was a revenge game for the Chieftains: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in December of 2024, they had to take a 40-22 loss.

Bluejacket's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-16. As for Welch, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-6 record.

Bluejacket has already played their next game (against Wesleyan Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Welch will take on Afton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Afton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
