Basketball Recap: Faith Sirmones and Heaven Scott Secure Win for Union County

Union County's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They secured a 45-40 W over the Saint Francis Catholic Wolves. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Fightin' Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Leading Union County to victory were Heaven Scott and Faith Sirmones. Scott posted 18 points, while Sirmones had ten points. Those ten points gave Sirmones a new career-high.

Saint Francis Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Allie Dey, who went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Dey is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Schoster, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Union County pushed their record up to 8-15 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Saint Francis Catholic, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Union County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-41 win against Hamilton County on the 31st. Saint Francis Catholic has also already played their next match (against St. Joseph Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
