Baseball Recap: King Wolves vs. Centennial Huskies
King had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 11-12 to make it seven. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centennial Huskies. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 4-1.
King saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Chavez, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Eli Lipson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for Centennial, their record is now 11-14. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.
On Centennial's side, Manny Arellano looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Arellano has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jesse Mendoza, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and six RBI. He has become a key player for Centennial: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 8-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Nonis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
