Volleyball Recap: Quakertown Panthers vs. Downingtown East Cougars
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central Bucks South, Quakertown was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Downingtown East Cougars 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Quakertown was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-22, 24-25, 25-21, 15-8.
Owen Reinford paced Quakertown's offense, picking up 20 kills. Reinford got some help from Sean Gillin and his 42 assists. Tyler A Moyer controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-14-1. As for Downingtown East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
After both having extra time off, Quakertown and North Penn will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Downingtown East, they have already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Dock Mennonite on the 15th.
