Preview: Texas Wind vs. Valor Preparatory Academy Knights
Texas Wind will square off against the Valor Preparatory Academy Knights at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Texas Wind was able to grind out a solid victory over Providence Prep, taking the game 62-52.
Meanwhile, Valor Preparatory Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Stephenville FAITH 62-21 at home. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Valor Preparatory Academy considering their two-point performance the game before.
Valor Preparatory Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Duke G led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. G is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Caedmon Thompson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight assists and five steals.
Texas Wind's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.
Texas Wind didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Valor Preparatory Academy in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Texas Wind since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
