Volleyball Recap: Buckeye Comes Up Short

Buckeye lost against Independence back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hawks fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Buckeye took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 20-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-13.

When it comes to explaining why Buckeye lost, don't look at Erick Rivera. Despite the final result, he had 15 digs and six aces. Rivera is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Buckeye's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 16-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Buckeye didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Fairfax on the 18th. As for Independence, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Youngker on the 22nd.
