Basketball Recap: Lytle Pirates vs. Hondo Owls
Make it 15 blowout wins for the Lytle Pirates this season. They blew past Hondo 75-38 at home on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Lytle sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Calyssa Sevier was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 33 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. Sevier is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 17 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katara Whitfield, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Lytle is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. As for Hondo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-10.
Lytle will head out on the road to square off against the Javelinas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal City is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Pirates a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Hondo will take on the Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Natalia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
