Baseball Game Preview: St. Bonaventure Seraphs vs. Montebello Oilers

The St. Bonaventure Seraphs will square off against the Montebello Oilers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

St. Bonaventure is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pasadena 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Seraphs have posted since April 4th.

The team relied heavily on Wyatt Richardson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Montebello, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Oakwood a 2-0 shutout on Friday.

Not much got past Fernando Cruz, who gave up just a hit to keep Oakwood off the board.

At the plate, Michael Rios was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Montebello pushed their record up to 19-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Bonaventure, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
