Softball Recap: Maroa-Forsyth Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Maroa-Forsyth won the last time they faced New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly and things went their way on Thursday too. The Trojans put the hurt on the Vipers with a sharp 14-5 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Danni Hovey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Maroa-Forsyth got a massive performance out of Karleigh Crutchfield, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Crutchfield a new career-high. Kalli Kahler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Maroa-Forsyth has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Maroa-Forsyth has already played their next game, an 8-1 defeat against Williamsville on the 22nd. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-4 victory against Jacksonville on the 21st.
