Baseball Recap: Nestucca Has No Trouble Against Vernonia

Nestucca not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 22-2). Everything went their way against the Vernonia Loggers as they made off with a 13-3 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Jace Jensen, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Nestucca's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Love, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Nestucca always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Nestucca's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Vernonia, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Nestucca will head out to square off against Clatskanie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Vernonia, they will challenge Knappa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Knappa's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Vernonia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
