Softball Recap: Maine East Blue Demons vs. Maine West Warriors
Maine East had lost six straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it seven. They came up short against the Maine West Warriors, falling 19-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Demons of the 6-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Maine East saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Kakares, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Maine West, their record is now 7-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Maine West's side, ABIGAYLE GARCIA and KARA LINDENMUTH did most of the damage at the plate: GARCIA went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while LINDENMUTH got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. GARCIA also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was ZOE CARDONA, who earned three runs and three stolen bases.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Maine East will take on rival Vernon Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Maine West is set to challenge their familiar foe Niles West at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
