Baseball Recap: Howards Grove's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Howards Grove won the last time they faced Sheboygan Area Lutheran and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Logan Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Howards Grove is 3-1 when Miller posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, Mason Scharl was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Matt Koenig, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Howards Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheboygan Area Lutheran struck out 11 times.

Howards Grove's victory bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Sheboygan Area Lutheran, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Looking ahead, Howards Grove will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah at 7:30 p.m. The Resorters' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Sheboygan Area Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
