Basketball Recap: St. Mary's-Colgan Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Galena, St. Mary's-Colgan was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Humboldt Cubs out 48-46. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Cubs are ranked 31st).

Humboldt lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Colden Cook, who went 6 of 12 en route to 14 points and eight boards. Asher Hart was another key player, putting up 12 points.

St. Mary's-Colgan pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Humboldt, their loss ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1.
