Football Game Preview: Central Knights vs. Cumberland Clippers + Official Tickets

The Central Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Cumberland Clippers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Barrington as they made off with a 42-21 win. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Cumberland faced Burrillville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Clippers took down the Broncos 43-26. Considering the Clippers' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Central better keep an eye on Jayden Rabbitt. He was instrumental in Cumberland's win, rushing for 228 yards and four TDs while picking up 9.5 yards per carry.

Cumberland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Cumberland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Chad Germadnik.

Cumberland's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Cumberland in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, winning 14-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
