Softball Recap: Southwest Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Southwest has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.65 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Seguin Matadors, falling 16-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Dragons have suffered since May 2, 2024.

Tommie Betancourt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryeli Valdez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Southwest's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10. As for Seguin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-2.

While Southwest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
