Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

St. Mary had lost four straight headed into Friday's game, but Will Szablewski didn't let it get to five. The St. Mary's Lancers walked away with a 69-60 win over the Cardinal O'Hara Hawks on Friday thanks in part to Szablewski, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played.

Israel Wilson was another key player, going 8 for 19 en route to 22 points. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Cardinal O'Hara lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Elijah Chaney, who made all 7 shots he took for 20 points along with seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Mickel Ivey, who made all 7 shots he took to post 19 points and seven rebounds.

St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Cardinal O'Hara, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

St. Mary's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 73-67 win against St. Francis on the 3rd. Cardinal O'Hara has also already played their next contest, a 61-36 victory against West Seneca East on the 1st.
