Recap: Lewiston Bengals vs. Sandpoint Bulldogs
The Lewiston Bengals lost against the Sandpoint Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lewiston took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandpoint. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lewiston in their matchups with Sandpoint: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Bengals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Breanna Albright, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Albright has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Addy McKarcher was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Sandpoint's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karlie Banks, who scored 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Banks has scored at least 25% of Sandpoint's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brecken Mire, who scored 18 points.
Lewiston's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Sandpoint, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewiston will take on Post Falls at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Post Falls is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Sandpoint, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lake City at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Lake City's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
