Baseball Game Preview: Grafton Gators vs. Westborough Rangers

The Grafton Gators will challenge the Westborough Rangers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grafton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Westborough is facing Grafton at the wrong time: Grafton suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 4-3.

Grafton got a good showing from Sean Griffin, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Griffin has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grafton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Finn Gilmore, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Westborough was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Ashland. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rangers have suffered since April 11th.

Westborough's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Grafton, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
