Baseball Game Preview: Hancock County Indians vs. Cosby Eagles

Hancock County is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They will host the Cosby Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

Hancock County lost 8-1 to Campbell County on Friday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cosby). They put the hurt on Cordia with a sharp 20-3 victory on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Jackson Brannon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Matthew McMahan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Cosby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cordia only posted an OBP of .350.

Cosby's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-12-1. As for Hancock County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Hancock County was able to grind out a solid victory over Cosby in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, winning 6-2. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
