Volleyball Recap: Allison Collard Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Branson

Webb City posted their closest victory since August 30th on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Branson Pirates 2-1. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Webb City who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-10, 15-25, 25-9.

Webb City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allison Collard led the charge by getting 11 digs and four aces. Those 11 digs gave Collard a new career-high. Avery Gardener was another key player, getting 17 digs and one assist.

Webb City's record now sits at 7-5. As for Branson, they moved to 12-7-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Webb City will host Kickapoo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Branson, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Willard on the 19th.
