Baseball Game Preview: Oswego Panthers vs. Ottawa Pirates

The Oswego Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Ottawa Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Monday, Oswego came up short against Joliet Catholic and fell 13-8. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Ottawa had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Red Devils by a score of 9-5. While the Pirates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 16-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ottawa's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Oswego, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Oswego was able to grind out a solid victory over Ottawa when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
