Softball Recap: Beavercreek Beavers vs. Springfield Wildcats

Beavercreek extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Springfield Wildcats. The Beavers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Viera Barrett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Selena Knight, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Springfield, their record is now 6-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 6, 2024.

On Springfield's side, Leeauna Rardon was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Rardon was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Springfield got a big performance out of Katie Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Brianna Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Beavercreek will challenge Centerville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield will be paying especially close attention to the Beavers' game: after the Beavers face off against the Elks, they'll take on Springfield again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
