Football Recap: Arabia Mountain Comes Up Short

The matchup between Arabia Mountain and Newnan on Friday hardly resembled the 20-6 effort from their previous meeting. The Rams had to suffer through a 52-7 loss at the hands of the Cougars. The Rams lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 20-6 score last time.

A big part of Newnan's victory came down to the chemistry between Brodie Campbell and his top target John Matthews. Campbell threw for 200 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of his passes while Matthews picked up 90 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Matthews a new career-high.

Arabia Mountain's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Newnan, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Arabia Mountain and Newnan will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Rams see the field they'll take on Lakeside at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Newnan, their break will end when they face Northgate at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
