Volleyball Recap: Alexander Central Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Alexander Central entered their match against Watauga on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars came up short against the Pioneers, falling 3-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Cougars' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-15, 25-12.

Hallie Harrington paced Alexander Central's offense, picking up nine kills. Harrington got some help from Makayla Williams and her 14 assists. Gemma Benton controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Watauga to victory were Caroline Childers and Lainey Gragg. Childers had 11 digs and three assists, while Gragg had 33 assists and nine digs. Gragg has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 33 times she's played.

Alexander Central's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-3. As for Watauga, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Alexander Central has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Freedom on the 18th. As for Watauga, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against McDowell on the 18th.
