Recap: Independence Bulldogs vs. Labette County Grizzlies

The Independence Bulldogs were the 34-27 winner over the Labette County Grizzlies when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. Independence took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Labette County on Tuesday.

Labette County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Jones, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Jones. The team also got some help courtesy of Landry Obrien, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.

Independence has fallen quite a ways from their 18-5 record last season and are now at 1-3-1. As for Labette County, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will square off against Pittsburg on Friday. Labette County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Parsons at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Parsons is ranked 85th, while Labette County is ranked 72nd).
