Baseball Preview: Whittier Cardinals vs. Santa Fe Chiefs
For the second straight game, Whittier will face off against Santa Fe. The Cardinals will welcome the Chiefs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Whittier is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Whittier's last matchup with Santa Fe could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Chiefs, falling 7-1.
For Santa Fe's part, they got a great performance from James Rubio as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Rubio has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ethan Lopez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was James Oregon, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
