Softball Preview: Plattsmouth Blue Devils vs. Auburn Bulldogs
Plattsmouth hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Auburn Bulldogs. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Plattsmouth is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Yutan-Mead on Saturday, sneaking past 14-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blue Devils considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Meanwhile, Auburn had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They skirted past the Wildcats 7-5. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly two runs.
Makenna Snodgrass made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Snodgrass was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Snodgrass wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Stanley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Dakota Maher also deserves some recognition as she stolen her first stolen base of the season.
Plattsmouth has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Auburn, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
