Basketball Game Preview: Pecatonica Indians vs. Eastland Cougars

The Pecatonica Indians will take on the Eastland Cougars in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pecatonica has given up an average of 50.7 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pecatonica easily dispatched South Beloit on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Indians fell just short of Galena by a score of 64-62 on Tuesday. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Eastland won against Galena on Saturday with 53 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Cougars made off with a 53-52 win over Lutheran. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Pecatonica's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Eastland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Pecatonica came up short against Eastland in their previous matchup back in March, falling 35-31. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
