Jeff Pool had one tucked away in his corner pocket way back in high school. He just needed to bounce it off the perfect mate who would be right on cue with it.

When the stars all aligned 17 years ago, Bumper Pool was born into this world. Now that baby boy is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior linebacker from Lovejoy (Lucas, Texas).

Bumper isn't just a memorable name or conversation starter. He's a legitimate college prospect and finisher. He had 148 tackles and five forced fumbles as a sophomore and 113 tackles, six tackles for loss, two pass deflections, one pass breakup, one interception, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble as a junior.

He ranks the 25th top recruit from Texas for the Class of 2018 and seventh-best inside linebacker in the country, according to 247Sports.

Pool has already committed to Arkansas and has secured 10 other offers, including Alabama, Michigan, LSU and USC. According to a recent 247Sports story, Pool is the Razorbacks' top recruit and Greenwood (Ark) quarterback Noland is No. 2. The two have made an immediate connection, according to reporter Cole Eddy.

No word if Illinois State, which recently signed Lawrence (Kan.) lineman Kobe Buffalomeat, has offered Pool a scholarship.
